The Year of the CROUP!

This last winter was
Intense.
The kids both had croup
twice!
I had never even

experienced
croup before
besides with
Anne, in Anne of Green Gables
When she gave ipecac!
If you have never experienced Croup
Be grateful.

I was sleeping
and could all of a sudden hear Zella
breathing.

Then the cough started
a grouling cough that
you can not mistaken.

It sounds like a seal bark
very high pitched.
I got up because I could tell she was having a hard time
breathing.
I grabbed her and went to the bathroom

turned on the hot shower and steamed the room.
It helped mildly.
I called or Zack to take her.
It was the middle of the night and
I was in a stupor of thought.

I couldn't think of what to do for her.
If I couldn't find anything to help or
if her cough or breathing got any worse
I was more than ready to take her
to the hospital.
SO
I pulled up my computer and

pulled up
It finally hit me
DUH!
The Onion Syrup
and
Onion Poultice!
I started on the Poultice.....
(Where you bake the onions for 20 min at 225 degrees click if you don't remember how to make it!)
While that is in the oven
I start on the Onion and Honey syrup.
I should simmer for about a hour but considering the case
I shortened the time to 45 min.
When the onions in the oven were done
I placed some olive oil on her chest then place the luke warm
onions down.
Then place a white cotton cloth on top to hold them
then wrapped a nice long scarf around her.
When the Onion Syrup was done
I let it cool but while its still warm
I give her 2 tsp of it.

Less than a minute later her breathing
Changed!
her cough was now moving
meaning instead of the cough
being dry and raspy
you could hear the mucus in
her throat moving!
That is a good sign!
Dry coughs to me are scary.
You need to get them moving
keeping the throat moist
is very important.
That is why this Syrup is so great.
The combinations of the honey and the onions
pull the mucus out and
get things moving.

Then with the Onion Poultice
it pulls and prevents the mucus from getting
into the lungs!!

so together these are amazing!

I continued for the rest of the night to give her
the syrup every hour

Amazingly by morning it was as if nothing happened to her
in the stressful night!
I was just exhausted!
Then a couple weeks later
Enzo went though the exact thing
But that time I was Ready!

This has been on my mind for a while now.....

So I'm into Natural Healing right?
But here is the thing...
I've been working with people
that don't want to vaccinate
and think they are into
Natural Health
being "Green"
and
Organic.
But here is the
PROBLEM
They don't do anything to
help their
Immune system, OR
do anything when they(including children) are Sick
This is why I am here
I want to inform people
if you are not to vaccinate
you NEED to do something
to help you and your children
to be the healthiest they can
BE!

ALSO!!!!!
If you do vaccinate you are
NOT out of the dark.
Your kids still can get sick.
You can still get
virus',
parasites,
diseases,
bad bacterias,
and other health ailing things.
You also need to help
maintain your health.

Did you know that even though
you are healthy
you can STILL
get sick?
I sure do.
I have been sick with a
sore throat
and dry cough
for almost a week.

I have felt very
strongly (especially lately)
that I need to share
What I do at home with a
small income to stay well.
I work in supplements in a health food store...
you would think I would know
how to get rid of this YUCKINESS!
Well when it comes down do it
BUDGET
has everything to do with it.
I know lots of things to do to help me
but I can't afford most of them.
YES I have health insurance.
BUT I use what I know until I feel
I need a something that I cannot get.
or otherwise known as a second opinion.
Lets all work together!
Lets use the things we have
on our counter and in our grocery stores
to be well and if that by chance does not work
go get a second opinion
maybe with the help of western medicine along with
HERBS and supplements
we can become stronger.

SO what am I doing to become
well again?
Onions and Garlic are two of
my favorite things EVER!
Onions are about .50 to $1 a pound.
Garlic is about the same price for a whole clove.
Pretty cheap if you ask me!
so I bought 2 onions and a clove of garlic.
Total being a whopping $1.50!!!!
Another thing that I use for the
respiratory system is honey
I have that on hand and in my storage
at ALL TIMES!
price on that can very greatly
from a few dollars UP.
The best kind to get is
RAW non-pasteurized Honey.
Honey is great at healing bacteria infections
in the respiratory system.
Also another thing to get and keep on hand is
Olive Oil!
Maybe $5-20 for a good size and quality
it lasts forever!

SO I get home dice half a onion
place into a double boiler....
or I take a smaller pot with water in it
then put my stainless steal bowl on top of the bowl.
With the onions in the bowl
I then cover the onions with honey.
Make sure the onions are pretty well covered.
(It always varies how much honey I use but AVG about 1/4C.)
Let the water come to a boil
Then place the bowl over the boiling water
Steep for at least 45 min. to 1 hour!
When done
sift out the onions
Let cool
Then take a spoonful every hour for sever cases
or as needed!

Onto the Garlic.
because I know my body is fighting
a infection garlic is one of my favorite
natural antibiotics!
For me being a adult I can tolerate pretty much anything.
but when it comes to kids...not so much.
I take about 4-5 of the largest
cloves and chop them...
not too small your going to sift them out later
Place them in a glass or stainless steal bowl.
Cover the garlic completely with the olive oil
could even go 1/2in above them.
Cover nicely with a lid of some sort.
Let them soak in the oil for 3 DAYS
After the 3 days sift out the
garlic
and you have garlic OIL!
This stuff is great for kids!
Give them a dropper full every hour to as needed!
Also great for the Ears!
At night
Drop 3 drops into each ear
followed by a cotton ball.
will help with any ear issues or infections!
make sure you sanitize the containers
that you store these in
and the shelf life is 2 months ISH! in the fridge to store
unless you use them in a few days
I keep in on the counter
for longer its in the fridge
Always smell and lightly taste to see if
it has gone bad!
It does happen!

For instant relief.....
Eat the Garlic cloves like they are your
BEST friend!
Chew them up if you can or just
chop them into pill size and SWALLOW!
Drink lots of water!
Eat about 5-10 A DAY!!!
For at least 3 or plus days!

At night for a cough continue the Onion and Honey Syrup
But you can sure use that other half
of the onion!
Turn on your oven to 225 degrees
Chop into slices
cook for 20 minutes
until the onions are rubbery.
Place a small amount of
olive oil on the chest
then place the luke warm onions on top.
place a clean 100% white cotton towel
to cover.
I can never find my ace bandage to wrap around
so I use my trusty SCARVES!!!!!!
Wrap around nice and snug
Say good night and the onions will
naturally pull the mucus out of the lungs
Repeat as needed for several nights!!!

One last thing....
take a multi vitamin.....
AND YOUR KIDS TOO!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you know what source your
vitamins are coming from????
I would look into it!
Try to find a food based vitamin
they are not that much more
and they are worth it in the end!

Take care of your self!
Drink lots of good water
You should be drinking 1/2 your body weight in ounces!
and if your sick 3/4 of your body weight in ounces!
Avg person weighs 150LBS
1/2 of 150 is 75
so that person on a daily basis should be drinking
75 OZ of water!
and if they are sick
~100 OZ!
Water is a great healer!

Life is TOUGH!!!

I've been exhausted lately.
I feel overwhelmed.
I'm excited for the things in my life.

I feel like I have too much going on.
Am I being selfish?

The Continuing Story!

When I was preg with
The Enzo the Benz
I was a little afraid
But I also
knew
He was a
BOY!
I was excited!
I was excited to have a
VBAC!
(Vaginal Birth After Cesarean)
We had just moved to Seattle, WA.
A Beautiful place!
I came not feeling well.
and
it was the beginning of November...
Not one of Seattle's best months
to
SHINE...Literally
It was dark.
I wasn't familiar at all with the area
and I didn't know very many people
at the time!
I really just stayed at
home
with Zella of course.
Zella was about to turn 2!
What a great age!
She is such an great little girl!
The search began...
With the help of modern technology and

a distant friend in Utah over the phone (Carlie)
I was able to get some great information
about the Seattle area.
And also finding a great
Midwife!
It took a couple tries to find the best match!
My goal was to have a
Natural Birth.....
^ This is Sally

Noun1.
natural childbirth - labor and childbirth without
medical intervention; no drugs are given to
relieve pain or aid the birth process;

And I wanted to be in a
Birthing Center....

I came to find out that in Seattle
It is against Birthing Center's Laws
to have a VBAC in their facility.
I was so disappointed to find that out
It was also difficult to find a
Midwife
that would do a VBAC.
I found about
5 total
that would be willing to do a VBAC.
I started with one at a
Very strange Facilitly...
(I can't even remember what it was called!
It was in Green Lake though.)
My friend Summer went with me
It was dirty...
and in a very interesting part
of town....
NEXT!!!
I tried another.
She was located in Lynnwood.
It was in a nice building.
but he office was like a closet....
Zack said it smelled like
Pretzels
(not a good thing)
She just didn't seem thorough....
I really just didn't get a good feeling about it!
NEXT!!!!
Dr. Sally Avenson!!!
CNM
Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs) provide health care i
nvolving emotional and physical support to women before,
during, and after childbirth. They are registered
nurses with specialized training in assisting
pregnant women and their newborn babies.
CNMs must complete an accredited
program of study and clinical
experience in obstetrical care.

She was great!
She covered Everything
We decided that a
hospital birth
was going to be the best
choice.
Sally assured that it was a very
low(.03%)percentage
of women that
have a ruptured uterus
during a VBAC.
EXCITING!!!
She gave me all the
confidence in the world!
Zack did too!
With the help of another
Great Friend
She told me a great book to read
about
Great book!
Since this was my
2nd birth
I kind of knew what
contractions were.
But it was really difficult to
remember!
That book was
eye opening.
It made every
pain I was having
make sense!
and made the
contractions make even
more sense!
I knew I could do it!
With having positive people
around me
telling me I could do it
helped SO MUCH!
Its amazing how many
negative comments you will get
when you express you want to have
a Natural Birth!
Ignore them!
Everyone is different
Every BODY is different
If you believe that you can do it
you CAN!
Your body was made to do this
have confidence
try not to have
fear!
The pain is not pain!
Its more pressure on the pelvis
and your muscles flexing
YOU can do it!
It was a great pregnancy
I loved Seattle!
I made a lot of great
friends!
I miss them!
By the time spring came
the weather was perfect!
The sun was
Perfect!
the beaches were
perfect!
Zella and I had the time of our
lives!
Poor Zack had to work.
but I really enjoyed that spring and summer
just us girls!
walking all over the U district.
Playing with our friends.
Taking naps.
Enjoying life!
Enzo was due on the 9th of July
Zack's mom, Maren
her birthday is the 4th of July
That's what I was shooting for
I thought it would be fun!
but he wasn't ready!
I'll never forget it.
It was 7AM Zack had just
left to go to work.
I got up for some reason.
Zack's dad came to watch Zella.
(What a blessing he was to come and help!)
I could tell my body had changed
the I could feel
those belly muscles
tightening.
I went and sat by Zella
I knew this would be the
last time that it would just be
us!
We were ready!!
It was a beautiful process!
We went to the hospital about 12 noon.
It felt so normal!
I had unfortunitly tested
for the group strep B
positive so I had to have a IV of antibiotics.
but for the last 2 weeks I had been taking
Echinecea, vit c, and garlic.
I felt great
I still had to take
the antibiotic.
oh well, I was ok with it.
I would never say
that contractions
are PAINFUL.
They are uncomfortable.
They are intense pressure!
I loved the birthing process.
I loved feeling everything that
I was feeling.
It all made sense of what I was feeling.
I tried all the positions
the ball
the chair
and
the tub.
That's when he started to crown!
It startled me and
for ONE QUICK moment I thought
"am I going to die?"
"Is this normal?"
I glanced over at my
angelic Midwife
she almost whispered to me
"You're doing great!"
"this is all normal!"
That's what I needed.
I got refocused.
We got out of the tub.
(Because of the previous C-section)
....CONTRACTION....
..Contraction..
and to the bed....
It was amazing
I felt like my body
was on cruise control!
SERIOUSLY!
I felt like almost an
out of body experience.
My body knew exactly what to do!
I was on my hands and knees
It felt the best.
all of a sudden
POP!
my water broke completely!
Zack said it splattered
all over the nurses HA!
then
deep breath and
out he was...
it took seconds after my water broke.
it was amazing!
it felt just liberating!
God made women to birth and it is an amazing process.
I would do it again!
and again!
and again!

What a rush!
8lbs 11oz!!!!!!!
Born on 7/8/09
yes my 789!!!

SWEET BABIES!
They are Angels!
